 We drive 120 miles and one stays with her sister as I drive to camp. 

• Find and move the ladder,
• Go up and onto each of the two flat roofs.
• Shovel.  (a side note, yesterday only about eleven inches of fluffy snow.)

Drive to Connecticut, and return.

 She was the concert master. A high achievement. Her initials, aej, my granddaughter.

WALKING, each day walking.

 Summer months were amiss.  One reason, the public road has sloping shoulders and log trucks. Walking is not the same. Now I am back at a quiet 32 minute route and a Sunday early morning one hour loop.

Setting up four pickleball nets is the first task. Second, I enjoy removing dust from under the feet of the nets. And last is pushing a wide dust mop.

I must get back to it right now.

 Our highlights were visit to The Four Corners, collection of three states, and the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

This was our second visit last in 2002.  Always the first two weekends of October.

Easter snow in the mountains.

 In the summer at camp rain showers build and move across camp two to six times in six hours. 

Yesterday we saw the same thing except with cold air.  The snow and the visibility was very low in at least four snow showers.  Followed in fifteen minutes by blue sky and clouds in the distance.

The trigger is unstable air caused by cold air aloft and also the air is moving up as winds move up and over the mountains.

Venus - our inner twin.

I am enjoying Venus in the morning sky. When? Before the brilliance of the sun over powers ( or hides the tiny dot).  This morning knowing where to look I finally found Venus about thirty minutes after sunrise.  Venus rises before our sunrise and is brilliant.  In a number of months Venus will pass behind the sun and then show up in the evening sky.  November.

 The planet Venus zooms around the sun in less than 300 days.  We the earth also zoom. How fast?

Because Venus is an inner planet we observe phases of the planet.  First quarter, full, last quarter all are familiar phases of the moon.  Everyone understands a full moon or the final morning sliver of the moon. Then a number of days later in the evening we see the increasing sliver of the moon.

Mars and Jupiter never show Earth phases.. Why?  These are outer planets so to us we always see a full disk.  Fully illuminated by the sun.  For teaching purposes create a huge model and move the viewer out beyond the orbit of Jupiter. From Saturn, both Jupiter and Mars and the earth have phases.
