Twelve eleven eleven - 12/11/11

Church for me was grand this morning.
Warm building; hundreds both connected and
separate. All  were entertained by a two and one half
year old girl who made the open pulpit a stage. As her
dad read the advent verse about the child (as if on que)
she appeared framed tucked under the pulpit where
no preacher would fit.

She was quiet, smiling, polite and on the move.
She knew how to worship by her presence.

I can not say I felt a hand pulling me to that specific service.
I can say I heard the still voice say, " See, I do it most every time."

God keeps saying, "it is because " I AM"."
See Exodus and in this season Luke 2 and Matthew 1.

Frozen pond? No.

To freeze solid we need temperatures in the single digits.
Our liquid pond tells our conditions.  A skim of ice
has formed twice.  Quickly inflow caused the ice
to melt. Winter and thick ice will show up.
Cold with no snow creates smooth ice.

October October. Now look at the photo.

Leaves on (May 22) - - leaves (fall) off.

In Maine leaves are on the trees for five months.
The five months are complete.

Now as I look out the computer room window
I see a golden maple. I also see the neighbor's
blue garage.  It will disappear in seven months.

Soon all the maple leaves will ask to go into
my compost pile. They want to join the pine
needles and the poplar material.

The poplars were bare days ago. 
White is the next color. White is not wet
if it is cold enough.

Elder grand daughter - Birthday

Today is her day.  I am here to be a part.

Alex in Connecticut lost power for 60 hours.
They are on a major trunk so power returned
early. Massive trees down in CT.

In Maine on our tree lined road we lucked out.
Never lost power.  One quarter of the southern
Maine power company (CMP) customers
did lose power. About 180,000 customers.

At times success is to get through the next couple  minutes.

Relax, the earth is going around the sun at
67,000 miles per hour.

If we don't do this or that the earth will
not stop.  I promise. Relax, chill.

Irene the storm

At Kathy's Wednesday ladies gathering, I stated two
meteorological model outcomes for the northeast.

Neither outcome was good.  One shows
Connecticut taking a direct hit.

Strong east or northeast winds appear
likely based on each.

Now that this is posted the result will be known
in four days. By Sunday afternoon we should have the
results.

Hot temperatures in Maine; only July

The remainder of the country may see extended heat.
We do not.  Yesterday's afternoon maximum
temperature was 62F.

Now Tuesday below 60F.
Sun tomorrow.

WI and NH birthdays

August 8 is the day of birth of two.

One gentleman turned 100 yesterday.
He still goes to work.

Maine history - 1989 to 2011

We drove into Maine the last days of July 1989.
No home.  No work. Faith.

Our gardens are happy we are here.

Not so much one thousand Japanese beetles.
They made a mistake and entered our
raspberry patch in 2011.
The beetles are no more.

Summer in Maine

Crops are in the ground. Garden path is green. Sky is clear today after a 4/10 inch sudden shower last night. Work is steady and Honey has a mini vacation.  AMEN

An actual clear sunrise today.  Maybe one other since
early May. This is the day the Lord has made.

Blessings continue years after.

We were members of a Westbrook church for years. That church body is no more. HOWEVER the body of Christ stays connected.

Robert, Charlie and Steve gave us 13 songs on their CD for
traveling morning worship.  Grand.

Also yesterday Geraldine brought a pecan pie with
taste so superb there are no words. Just eat and enjoy.

Family is forever but so also is the family of God.

Ready to conclude - trip 2011

All seven siblings - visited.
We saw triplets; twins and two other
young children of nieces and nephews.

Enjoyed.

Traveled and arrived - twice.

Arrival #one at Moms.
Arrival #2 at son and d. in law
and two(grand) grand daughters.

Enjoyed skilled recitation.
Flair and thoughtful.

Banff Mt Films - each February for us.

Some films four minutes. One often about an hour. Always exciting.

Each time one film stands out.
Alone across Australia - south to north walking with a gun and a pack.
Row across the Atlantic. She broke both oars but continued.
BASE jumping from a cable into a cave in China.
This year on Monday we were riveted watching, " Crossing The Ditch",
a two person kayak trip across the Tasman Sea.

Weekends

Most recent - visit Connecticut. (walk in the nearby woods).

Fun stop in New Hampshire.( sugar house)

Work this weekend.
Drive early April.
Easter. Finally mild?

Meandering Month ( March )

One week ago we awoke to five inches of snow. Tonight rain is forecast to be absorbed by the snow pack. Minus 10 (-10F) followed the next day by 42F.  Meandering March.

Document a weekend

The bird needed food, we needed to get away to plan an escape and The Courtyard had high speed internet. Two HBO movies were also fun.  Last our NH breakfast place is eight minutes from the room.

Enroute story: Andy's Agway is remote but carries needed seed. Portsmouth, NH is close but far.  If we are there and we decide to spend the night at home it is easy.

Escape quarterly; check.

We are on dial up so must be desperate to check into a motel to have access. If you send a big file or a forward of a forward we may need to get access to high speed to see it.  Otherwise download time is hours.

Did you hear the news??? Newborn Avery Dillion born to dad and mom Mike and Erin; grandparents sister and Ron; great grandparent my mom. A daughter to my nephew. Neat.

More Venus information

Venus is to the right of the sun as seen before sunrise.  Each month J/F/M/April it will move more distant from the earth.  By October (likely earlier) Venus will be too close to the sun to see. It will disappear. In December then slowly  into 2012 Venus will gain brilliance in the evening sky.  So in 14 months we will see the brightest small object immediately after sunset.  See you then.  djmaine - 14/2011
